This shop is for all vintage lovers and retro fans, for everyone who likes beautiful things and appreciates handmade things, who love something special and enjoy warm colors, for boho queens and hippie kings.

Who am I?

Okay, I've been avoiding this part the whole time and it's probably going to be a bit uncomfortable now, but hey, here we are!

I'm Verena, I live in Wuppertal/ Germany and even if I do As a child of the 80's, I always felt very connected to the music and style of the 60's & 70's. Sometimes it seems to me that somehow I was born in the wrong time. From an early age, I spent hours listening to the Bee Gees, ABBA, Grease, Cat Stevens, and a bunch of oldies in my kid's room while getting creative. Something was constantly being brushed on, pasted over, written or tinkered with. Painting, weaving, crocheting, pottery, candle-making, papier-mâché and plaster of paris, pearl jewellery, silk painting or making friendship bracelets: there was always something to do. Here and there, I'm sure there was a little stage performance in front of the mirror... you know, with a hairbrush as a microphone and stuff like that. 😅

So why not infuse that feeling into art? Since I started with macrame in 2019, the idea of making more vintage-inspired products has increasingly developed. For me, the 60s and 70s with their warm colors, the music and the fantastic design are an attitude towards life and pure happiness that I would like to pass on to you.

How did Knotwork orange come about?

Well, at some point I just lost the thread in the truest sense of the word. As it is when you grow up, suddenly other things are supposedly more important. The light-heartedness is gone and in its place are commitments and long working days. At some point I was hardly creative and my head just didn't want to switch off anymore. Because let's be honest: As an adult, many things (mostly the good ones) fall by the wayside in everyday life. I didn't want to accept that and started to get more interested in creative activities until I finally discovered knotting for myself. I noticed that it also takes me back to what I used to enjoy as a child: diving into another world, relaxing and trying out materials. In the sense of "release your inner child" I was no longer willing to ignore this inner voice and since then I have felt more like myself again. The thought of wanting to be independent has been dormant in me for a long time but only with the knotting concrete. But I didn't just want to sell anything, I wanted to be active and creative myself. Because with macrame, the knot in my head is loosened and I can perfectly combine creativity and relaxation. Okay, that was a lot of puns, but one thing is still missing... because a name was needed. Based on the film Clockwork orange from the 70s the name was born (thanks Janne!).

"It's so funny how so much of finding yourself in adulthood is simply getting back to who you were and what you loved as a child."

What knotwork orange stands for

My company should be more than just a job. I would like to contribute all my passion and power and offer high-quality products that you will enjoy for a very long time. Transparency and honesty are very important to me, because as a customer I expect the same from a company. Dubious information or dubious statements are a no go and you will not find them with me. At the political level, too, I expect a company to conform to my ethical ideas. The topic of sustainability is very important here, because neither humans, nor animals, nor the environment may suffer from the production. That's why every product should fit me, my values and my style - so that I can achieve the most beautiful results for you!

Knotwork orange stands for individuality. My style is inspired by the warm colors of the 60s and 70s. Each product is unique and made by hand with lots of love & flower power . Are you a vintage lover and retro fan? You love the wild 70s and are a hippie at heart? Then you are exactly right here. But the calmer colors also have their place here and you can always write to me for personal creations. :)

Let me make you smile ☺︎

So it's not so much about the specific product that you or anyone really needs. Knotwork orange stands more for a feeling... for something positive, a necessary emotion - namely happiness. Happiness that I feel when knotting and the joy that I hope you then feel when looking at my products, when you carry them with you or the colour they bring into your home. All the bright colors are little sunshines that you can find in your handbag, on your wrist, on your table or on your window. Little reminders to cheer you up and tell you: Everything will be fine...keep going! And then you put on your favorite record loudly, dance to it with your hairbrush in your hand like I once did in my children's room and free yourself for a moment from all worries. Just like a real hippie. ;)
